John Vasey has a very diversified background in film and television that uniquely bridges the creative programming and production sides. For the last two decades, more recently as the Vice President of Original Programming at the pay-cable network Showtime, he supervised high profile original movies ("DC 9/11: A Time of Crisis," "Down in the Delta") and series programming ("Dead Like Me") which achieved increased ratings, positive critical reviews, and greater awareness of the network in the marketplace. He has also worked with high profile talent from the feature film world (Tony & Ridley Scott, Sydney Pollack) and guided their crossover into the world of cable programming.
Prior to his tenure at Showtime, John worked for KYW-TV, an NBC affiliate in Philadelphia, developing his skills as a cameraman and editor. His short films, which he produced and directed, won multiple awards, and the most notable, "The Hat Act," won the Hugo Award from the Chicago International Film Festival and was selected by HBO for an exclusive television premiere. "Debating Robert Lee" is John's first full length feature editing credit and he has now formed Skyhill Productions to produce and edit projects for theatrical, cable, and documentary.
